A large part of the Queensland Law Society's role is to connect the legal profession and the community and break down the barriers to understanding and learning about the law.  Welcome to the Schools and Community Education Service (SCES)!  SCES - pronounced 'skeez' - aims to provide useful legal information and raise awareness about current legal issues.

Useful resources and publications - SCES produced and distributes a number of resources to help the general public, students, teachers and community groups better understand the law and how solicitors can be of assistance.  Check out The Verdict magazine, read through our many fact sheets and scroll the array of useful links.

Find a Solicitor - It's not easy knowing who to turn to when you find yourself faced with a legal dilemma.  So knowing how to choose a solicitor is the first step in achieving your legal goals.  The Frequently Asked Questions provides information on when a solicitor can be used, how to find a solicitor and what to expect to make the process as simple as possible.

In the community - Through SCES, the Queensland Law Society encourages solicitors to engage with their local communities.  The Speaker Bureau is an opportunity for solicitors to share their legal experiences and impart their legal knowledge of legal issues by providing free talks to schools and community groups.
